Do you know what happens when a student falls short in their school cafeteria account or does not have any cash to buy lunch? They are awkwardly removed from the line in front of their classmates and given a paper bag with a cheese sandwich and container of water. This frequent scenario is referred to as “Lunch Shaming” and it is demoralizing, unhealthy, unnecessary, and just plain cruel. In response to this fast growing challenge LunchThief has launched the School Lunch Project helping to replenish the cafeteria lunch money accounts of hungry kids in need on any given school day. Whether it’s proper nutrition to fuel their academic learning engines or if it happens to be their only hot meal of the day, there are no excuses for why a student should go without a square meal in school….it’s the least we can, and should do.
LunchThief donates a portion of all corporate and restaurant membership sales directly to county school districts covering proper lunch for kids in distress. For more information on how to get involved with the School Lunch Project call 561.221.2711 or email eat@lunchthief.com
